Creating, saving, and posting a group journal

Select Journal Management > Group Journal Management > Posting Journals > Group Journal Editor.
You can also access the journal editor from the Journal List page. After the journal list is displayed, click New Journal and then Group Journal.

Specify the period, group, and level, and select the relevant segment
stage.
The configuration set and version are predefined based on the settings from Business Modeling. You cannot change the configuration set and version.
- Optionally, specify the journal summary or journal description, or both.
- Optionally, attach files that relate to the journal.

In the table, specify this information for each journal line:
- Entity
- Specify the entity from the group.
- Account
- Specify the account for the debit or credit values.
- Intercompany
- If applicable, specify the entity's intercompany.
The intercompany can be the same as the entity that you specified in the journal line. This can be the case for internal financial transactions within an entity, for example, between cost centers or departments.
- Schedule Detail
- If applicable, specify the schedule detail for the account. This field is enabled only if the account has the corresponding schedule detail.
- Debit
- Specify the debit amount.
You can specify either the debit amount or the credit amount in one journal line.
- Credit
- Specify the credit amount.
You can specify either the debit amount or the credit amount in one journal line.
- Current
- This field shows the current balance of the account.
- After Post
- This field shows the after-post value of the account. That is, current balance +/- debit or current balance +/- credit, depending on the account type.
Note: By default, two journal lines are displayed. You can add or delete journal lines. To add a journal line click the New Journal Line icon. To delete a journal line, select the line and click the Delete Journal Line icon. - Expand the journal lines. Ensure that the required segments and intersegments are set up for account IDs that require segment and intersegment information.

Click one of these options to finish creating the journal:
Option Description Save as Draft Saves the journal as a draft. Post Journal Posts the journal. This option is not enabled unless the debit and credit amounts balance and all required information is specified. Annul Journal Deletes the journal that has not been posted yet or cancels the posted journal with an open period. Create Recurring Journal Saves the journal as a recurring journal, which is later displayed on the Recurring Journal List page. This option is not enabled unless the debit and credit amounts balance and all required information is specified. Posted and saved journals are displayed on the Journal List page with their statuses. Saved journals do not have journal IDs. For posted journals, journal IDs are displayed.
