Segments business objects from the business perspective
The Segments business objects are similar to the Analysis business objects. But segments use a specific application business logic and have these characteristics:
- Segments can be enabled at an account level. This does not apply to the Analysis business objects.
- Order of segments, for example, division-product-location is important for hierarchical segmentation, which applies only to Financial Consolidation.
- Data entry pages related to segments exist in Budgeting & Planning.
If you plan to implement consolidation, consider the standardization of use of the Segments and Analysis business objects across the application.
Typical examples of the Segments business objects are a product, industry sector, or geographical data such as countries, states, regions, or cities.
Caution:
Do not load data from one custom business object in a source system into
multiple Infor EPM integration tables. For example, do not
load the same data from a custom business object into both the Analysis 2 and Segment 1
integration tables. This can cause incorrect results in the Infor EPM applications.
