Nesting charts

You can display several small charts in a report instead of one large one. By nesting a single chart inside a hyperblock, you can generate a separate chart for each dimension.

This example uses the dimensions of SALES cube.

  1. In Design mode, create a vertical hyperblock for the Time dimension in cell B3. Drag the edges of the hyperblock so that it extends from B3 to G14.
  2. Click in cell G3 and create a horizontal hyperblock for the Product dimension. The hyperblock extends from cell G3 to G14.
  3. Create an OLAP formula in cell G4.
  4. Select cells B3 to G4.
  5. Create a chart.
  6. Drag the chart onto cell B4.
  7. Adjust the size of the chart so that fits within B4 to F14.
    In View mode there are now separate, independent, charts for each year.
