Data Labels tab
The Data Labels tab is displayed in both the Formatting Data Series dialog box and the Chart Options dialog box.
You can define labels and tooltips.
You can use data labels and tooltips in these ways:
- Select Show labels to view the data of the data series.
- Select Show tooltips to view tooltips when you rest on the data series.
- Select Series to view the name of the data series.
- Select Category to view the name of the category.
- Select Value to view the value of the data series.
- Select Bubble size to show the bubble size. This option is only available for bubble charts.
- Select Percentage to calculate the percentage of the pie and donut in absolute values. This option is only available for pie and donut charts.
- Select User-defined to specify your own text for labels with a formula or a cell reference, for example =C23.
- Use
- Comma
- Semicolon
- Period
- New line
- Space
when combining several content types into a single label or tooltip. You can define
these types of separators: - Use to define the format of tooltips and labels. You can define the number format for values in tooltips and labels. Additionally for labels you can define the pattern, font, and alignment.
- Specify ~ as to format the number of
the label or tooltip to be as the one in the chart's data source. Cell formats that are
applied to chart data are not automatically applied to chart labels. For example, labels
of a column chart display unformatted values even if the source values are formatted as
dates. To apply the format of the source values, select User-defined on the Number tab and select ~ as the
format. Note: If the format of the source values include color, such as
_$#,##0;[Red]-_$#,##0s
, the color formatting is not applied to labels. - You can also access the formatting of labels by right-clicking the labels on the chart and selecting .
