Creating a writeback formula

In this procedure, we make the Forecast column in E11 writable so that users can write values to the database.

  1. Click E11 and open the Edit OLAP Formula dialog box.
  2. Click Edit OLAP Formula. Select Allow writeback and click OK.
  3. In View mode, select Size to display all individual tires.
  4. From the Measure combo box, select Units.
    The Gross Margin measure, for example, is calculated by this rule: [MEASURE:'Net Revenue']-[MEASURE:'Cost of Sales']-[MEASURE:'Production Costs']. By default, you cannot write back on cells that are calculated by rules. This can be changed in the Database Settings dashboard in EPM Administration.
  5. Specify a forecast value for one of the tires and press Enter.
  6. Save the report and then create a copy called Tutorial7.
