Creating a horizontal freeze area
Notice that the labels of all the combo boxes are visible in Design mode. But, in View mode, the labels are not visible unless you collapse the Period hyperblock to display only the All Years element.
The position of the labels is determined by the horizontal Period hyperblock below them and by the number of elements it displays. As the hyperblock expands, the labels are shifted to the right. The Measure label is unaffected because it not above the Period hyperblock.
Why then are the combo boxes not also affected by the expansion and collapse of the hyperblock?
In Design mode, a faint dotted line is displayed at the bottom edge of each combo box. This indicates that there is a freeze area. A freeze area is automatically added to list objects. A freeze area can be horizontal, vertical, or both.
To fix the combo box labels in place, specify a horizontal freeze area on each label:
- In Design mode, click the label in cell D6.
- In the Objects toolbar, click .
- Add freeze areas to the labels in F6, H6, and J6.
