Report templates
In Application Studio, select on a folder, then create a new report based on one of the templates.
The templates use report variables to determine data parameters. This means that reports based on the templates are independent from the sample reports.
You can customize the reports by:
- Adding input and output variables
The combo boxes in the templates have not been defined with input or output variables. After creating a report based on a template, you can decide whether to use global or report variables to store selections in combo boxes.
- Adding or removing filter dimensions (combo boxes)
If you add more combo boxes as filters to a report, you must adjust value formulas (
CELLGET
) to refer to the new combo boxes. Also, value filters should to refer to those additional combo boxes if needed. - Including in the navigation
New reports automatically appear in the report tree. You can also include new reports by adding links from existing reports.
Other customization is possible. Reports that have been created based on templates are not linked to the template they are based on or to each other. Each of the resulting reports is an independent report that can be extended, modified, or simplified.
The Configure data parameters template is a special template. When creating a report based on this template, you are changing the data parameters for all Samples reports. This is because all data parameters in these report use global variables to determine the data parameters such as alias, cube, dimension, etc. Use this template only to move the entire set of sample reports onto a different model.
The templates are:
- The Trend chart template provides a chart that highlights the movement of actual values around planned values over a certain time.
- The Waterfall finance template provides a waterfall chart that highlights how the result is calculated over the profit and loss accounts.
- The Tops and flops template allows finding the tops and flops of a certain dimension based on flexible criteria.
- The Portfolio chart template provides a portfolio chart you can use to analyze the correlation of three measures. For example, you can find the strongest products. You can change the size of the chart. Click a bubble on the chart to get more details.
