Security options

There are several security types available to secure the internal communication, public APIs, web access, and client access.

These are the security types:

Service to service security

Select the type of security mode that is used for the internal communication between Services and for infrastructure calls.

API security

Select the type of security for the public APIs of services. This applies to, for example, Administration Services.

Web access security

Select the type of security that is used for the web access by users. Consider these scenarios:

  • How users access the web user interface
  • How users log on to the Farm repository
Note: To connect your farm to Microsoft Analysis Services, we recommend that you install your farm with IFS web access security.

For web access security, these authentication types are available: Basic, LDAP, and IFS.

If you select Basic as the authentication type for web access security, then it is also set as the authentication type for client access security and cannot be changed there.

If you select IFS as the authentication type, then you are prompted to set additional settings for client access security. You must also specify additional settings for IFS, such as the IFS URL and Infor OS Farm ID.

For configuring IFS for web access, see the "Service Expert" section.

If you select LDAP as the authentication type for web access security, then it is also set as the authentication type for client access security and cannot be changed there.

Client access security

Select the type of security that is used for the client access. This section is enabled only when IFS is the security type for web access security.

For client access security, these authentication types are available: Basic, LDAP, and IFS.

If you select IFS as the authentication type, then you are prompted to specify additional settings for IFS and configure ION API.

For configuring IFS for client access, see the "Service Expert" section.

For configuring ION API, see the "Installation" section.

Note: Ensure that you share new connection profiles when you make any structural changes. For example, when you change the client access security or create a new ION Gateway URL definition. Details about this are stored in the client profile. Ensure that you import this profile to all clients.

Application Studio and Application Engine use basic authentication type.

Several local farms can use the same tenant for authentication.
