Placeholder dimensions
Throughout this documentation, we refer to placeholder dimensions. A placeholder dimension is a dimension with generic elements that are used to represent different objects in different slices. For example, WBDBC_BENEFITCOST is a placeholder dimension containing the generic elements, BENEFIT_0001, BENEFIT_0002, and so on. In the slice CYCLE_001, BUDGET_01, the BENEFIT_0001 element represents a benefit called Bonus while in the slice CYCLE_001, BUDGET_02, the BENEFIT_0001 element represents a benefit called Long Term Disability Insurance.
Placeholder dimensions are used to provide flexibility in the data model and for future enhancements.
