Exporting an application

Note: Currently, you cannot export standard applications.

Click Next and Previous to move through the steps of the wizard.

  1. Select Dashboards > Applications Administration > Applications.
  2. Select the application to export.
  3. Click Export.
  4. On the General Information step of the Export Application wizard, specify this information:
    Unique Name
    Specify a unique name for the application.
    Description
    Optionally, specify a description of the application or, for example, details of the content creator or developer.
  5. Optionally, on the Release Information step, switch on Include versioning and specify a version number for the application.
    If a custom package has a version and is used to update an existing application, then the existing application must have the same or lower version.
  6. On the Capabilities step, select which capabilities, and which content for those capabilities, to include.
  7. On the OLAP step, if it is enabled, optionally switch on Include database and select one of these options:
    Option Description
    Include OLAP database Includes the entire OLAP database and all its subsets and database properties
    Export selected cubes and dimensions Enables Cubes and Dimensions tabs , on which you select the cubes and dimensions to include. By default, all cubes and dimensions are selected. Subsets are not included.
  8. On the Modeling step, select whether to include generic OLAP and relational modeling capabilities.
    If the source application has the modeling capability, the option is selected by default. If the source application does not have the modeling capability, the option disabled.
    Note: In this step, the relational and OLAP model content of the source application is not exported. But, after import, the target application acquires the capability to use OLAP and relational modeling. To export the modeling content, select Dashboards > Data Integrations > Relational Modeling and click Export. See "Export and import".
  9. On the Languages step, select the languages to include.
  10. On the Application Roles step, select the custom application roles to include.
    Note: You cannot export the built-in system application roles such as AdministratorRole or MasterRole. For information on the system application roles, see the "Security" topic in this documentation.
  11. On the Data Roles step, select the custom data roles to include.
    Note: To avoid losing permission data in access cubes, we recommend that you always export data roles.
  12. On the Data Connections step, select the data connections to include.
    We recommend that you test the data connections after the exported application is installed.
  13. On the Custom Settings step, select the custom settings to include.
  14. On the Export step, optionally select Save profile.
  15. Click Start Export.
