OLAP Modeling

OLAP Modeling provides an overview of the dimensions and cubes of a model. It also provides options to manage attribute tables, (static) subsets, rules, and elements of hierarchies and their access permissions. You can publish an entire model from the OLAP Modeling dashboard as an alternative to using scripts. To publish a single dimension and all its dependent objects (properties, attributes, hierarchies, subsets, DAC values, and data roles) use the PublishCustomDimensionToOLAP script. To publish a single cube and its dependent objects (properties, rules and rule groups, facts and, optionally, dimensions) use the PublishCustomCubeToOLAP script.
Note: You cannot use the OLAP Modeling dashboard to manage elements of the Infor EPM business applications.

All dimensions from the DEPM_MOD_DIMENSION object definition table are listed. Click the root, Dimensions node of the list to show the dimensions in a grid. The Security column indicates which dimensions have dimension access control and for which, therefore, you can manage element permissions. Select a dimension in the tree and then, on the Attributes tab, add, edit, or delete attribute fields.

You can add, edit, and delete elements and their attribute values, create (static) subsets, and, if a dimension uses dimension access control, manage permissions for elements. The Elements tab shows the elements hierarchically, based on the data tables, and referenced from the DEPM_MOD_HIERARCHY object definition table. A column is shown for each attribute of the dimension, as defined in the DEPM_MOD_DIMENSIONATTRIBUTE object definition table. To enable changes to element types, order position, and weight, follow the column name recommendations for element and relations tables. See the "Element table" and "Relations table" topics. Hierarchies that are based on views or which exceed the limit of 1,000,000 elements are not displayed.

All cubes from the DEPM_MOD_CUBE object definition table are listed. Click the root, Cubes node of the list to show the cubes in a grid. The Security column indicates which cubes have multi-dimensional access control. Select a Data type cube to manage its rules.

Caution:
If you rename a base element in OLAP Modeling, you may lose your data. To avoid losing your data, perform these steps:
  1. In EPM Administration, select Dashboards > OLAP > Edit Database.
  2. Select the database and click the Cubes node.
  3. On the tile with the affected cube, click the Export Cube (File) icon.
  4. In the exported file, rename the element in all rows in which the element is displayed according to the element renaming in OLAP Modeling.
  5. Save the file.
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 for all cubes that are affected by the element name change.
  7. Select Dashboards > Data Integrations > OLAP Modeling.
  8. Select the model and hierarchy.
  9. In the list of elements, change the element name in the Element Name column and click Save.
  10. Click Publish.
  11. Select Dashboards > OLAP > Edit Database.
  12. Select the database and click the Cubes node.
  13. On the tile with the affected cube, click the Import Cube (File) icon.
  14. Import the adjusted file.
  15. Repeat steps 12-14 for all cubes that are affected by the element name change.
