Exporting a report and its dependencies

To move reports to another application, for example, you can export their definitions to a report file (.reports). You can export a single report, or all reports in a folder. By default, all dependent objects of the reports are selected for inclusion in the export. If you require, you can deselect some dependencies, such as calculations. Other dependencies, such as custom hierarchies, cannot be excluded from the export.

The exported file can be imported to another computer or report catalog.

Note: This export format is not intended for sharing reports with other users. For that, use other export formats such as PDF or MS Excel.
  1. Right-click the report or folder in the report catalog and select Export/Import > Export Reports (.reports).
Note: For variables, only the default value and the value of the user who performs the export are included in the export file.
  2. Optionally, clear the check boxes of any of these dependencies, to exclude them from the export:
    • Calculations
    • Style sheets
    • Shared images
    • Web extensions
    • Permissions
Note: For report variables, only the default value and the value of the user who performs the export are included in the export file.
  3. Browse to the location to which to export the report and specify a file name.
  4. Click OK.
