Printing the current report or a report book with the print wizard

In the print wizard, you can print the currently selected report or a selected report book. In both cases, you are prompted to select which elements to print for each report parameter. Each list view object in a report is a report parameter. By selecting from the objects in the report, you display different views of the report data. By selecting which elements to print for each parameter, you determine which views of the report data to print.

You can select from these options:

  • Current Selection: The view for the current element will be printed.
  • All elements: A view for each element in the list object will be printed.
  • Select Element: The Select Elements dialog is displayed when you select this option. A view for each element that you select will be printed.
Caution:
In a report which, for example, has two combo boxes, each of which contain four years and four products respectively, there are 16 possible combinations of elements. That is, there are 16 possible views of the report to print. In more complex reports, the number of possible views to print can be large.
  1. Select File > Print Wizard.
  2. Select one of these options:
    Option Description
Current report Available only if a report is selected in the report catalog
Selected book Select a book from the list of report books.
  3. Click Next.
For the current report, the Print Ranges dialog is displayed. For a report book, the Reports and Print Ranges dialog is displayed.

  5. If you are printing a report book, select which elements to print for each report parameter in each report.
  6. Optionally, select the Split By option for a parameter to generate separate files. By default, all views are printed as a single file.
For example: A report has two combo boxes, A and B. In the Export Wizard, you select four elements from parameter A and two elements from parameter B. If you Split By parameter A, four files are generated - one for each element selected from parameter A. Each file contains two views - Parameter A + element B1 and Parameter A + element B2. If you split by parameter B, two files are generated. Each file contains four views - Parameter B combined with each Parameter A element.
