Importing dimension data

The dimensions that correspond to the data must be imported so that the dimension elements that identify the cube data values are valid and exist in the dimensions.

After executing the stored procedures or scripts, the dimension and cube data tables have been generated in the integration database and are available to be imported.

Optionally, delete all elements before the import overwrites the current dimension structures.

  1. In Designer, connect to the model.
  2. Expand the model.
  3. Expand Configuration.
  4. Click Planning Settings.
  5. Click the Common Settings tab and select Click here to import the data of the Integration import.
  6. From the Source Connection list, select the connection to the depm_integration database. The import facility uses the connection to find all the available cube data tables that can be imported.
  7. Select one of these options:
    Import type Description
Delete all elements before import Intended for an initial load of structure. This type of structure import clears all dimension content and loads the hierarchies, elements, and attributes from the integration database.
Update existing elements and structure Intended for an incremental load of structure. This import behavior updates hierarchies, attributes and elements. Existing elements remain, while new elements from the integration database are imported into the dimension.
  8. Select these dimensions and click Import:
    • WBDSG_GRADE*
    • WBDSG_TABLE*
    • WBDSG_STEP*
    • BPDNO*
    • WBDSGPROGRESSION*
    • WBDJOB
    • WBDPOSITION
    • WBDEMPLOYEE
    • WBD_BENEFITCOST
    • BPDDETAIL WBD_BASEDON_BENEFITCOST
    • WBDBC_RANGE*
    • WBDACTION

Messages are displayed in the Status pane as the dimensions are imported. Any error stops the process and prevents subsequent selected dimensions from being imported.
