Removing data from a report

There are only zero values for the Van Tires element and its children. We can exclude data from a report in a variety of ways. Different methods are appropriate to different circumstances.

  1. Open the Tutorial3 report.
  2. In Design mode, select View > List Designer
The List Designer is displayed at the right of the screen.
  3. Click the border of the Product hyperblock.
The List Designer is enabled. The List Designer contains five panes that provide various methods to control which elements form a list and how they are displayed. By default, Structure Selection is selected. In Structure Selection, the different levels of the Product dimension are listed.
  4. Expand All Tires and select all the check boxes except All Tires and Van Tires.
  5. Click Apply changes to the list at the top of the List Designer.
In View mode, only the selected product groups are shown in the report, but you can no longer drill down to the individual products. You could expand each product group in Structure Selection and select the check boxes of each individual product. But even with only five product groups, this method is time-consuming.
  6. In Design mode, clear all the check boxes you have selected in Structure Selection and apply the changes to the list.
Another option is to use a regular expression.
