Using a different model

The sample reports are database independent and can be used against any suitable data model. You can change all the reports to use another data source.

  1. Create a database alias that points to the data model to use.
  2. Right-click any folder and select New Report.
  3. In the Create New Report dialog box, specify a name for the report and select to create a new report based on the Configure Data Parameters template.
The Report Wizard opens where you can specify the alias, cubes, and dimensions you want to use.
All reports use global variables as data parameters. When you run the Report Wizard with the Configure Data Parameters template, those variables are filled with different values, thus changing the data model of all reports.
  4. Complete the wizard.
If you want to mix data sources, you must manually adjust the reports to use a different data source.

You can use the resulting report to check that all the parameters are correct. You can delete the report you created based on the template after checking the parameters.
