Entering permissions in access cubes

Select Dashboards > OLAP > Manage Permissions. Select the data source and the access cube. The type of the selected access cube is displayed by default.

All application roles and data roles are displayed together with their types. You can filter the roles by their type. Click Filter in the toolbar and select the needed filter option. If an application role has an identical name as a data role, a warning message is displayed. Select Filter > Show only Conflicting Roles to view all application and data roles that have identical names.

Note: We recommend that you do not create application roles and data roles with identical names.

In each cell of the grid an icon indicates the permission that is currently assigned. You assign permissions by clicking cells in the grid.

You can select a permission to apply to each cell that you click. This is useful in applying the same permission to multiple cells. Or, to apply several different permissions you can enable a context menu, which is displayed each time you click a cell. The context menu lists the available permissions.

The Context Menu option in the toolbar is enabled by default. Use the context menu or select a specific permission to apply. The currently selected option is highlighted in the toolbar.

To update the dashboard with recently created roles, click Update Roles.

By default, roles form the columns of the grid. The elements of the access cube form the rows. There is a Roles button and a button for the access cube. You can drag the buttons to exchange the column and row elements. The button that is in the column position has options to select elements, level, and hierarchy, and to reset the selection. In the Select Element dialog box, use Ctrl and Shift to select multiple elements or enable the multi-selection mode in the toolbar.

The button that is in the row position has options to select elements, level, and hierarchy, to reset the selection, and to sort elements.

Click a column heading to sort cells in ascending or descending order. Or, select Keep Role or Keep Element to display only the selected column.
