Mapping to a level-based source table

  1. Select Dashboards > OLAP > Edit Database.
  2. Select the database to administer.
  3. Click the Dimensions node of the database structure.
  4. Click the Hierarchies icon of the dimension for which to create mappings.
  5. Click the Mappings icon of the hierarchy.
  6. Click New Mapping.
  7. Specify a name for the mapping and, optionally, add comments.
  8. In the Data Connection field, select the data connection that connects the application to the staging database.
  9. Select Level-Based Table as the source data type.
  10. Select the source table or view.
  11. Optionally, in the Element Order Column field, select a column of the source table.
    The column that you select determines the order in which elements are created.
  12. Click the Attributes tab.
  13. Click Add Level.
  14. In the Level column, specify the top level.
    For example, if the source is a table of countries, the top level might be Continent.
  15. In the Column column, select the column in the source table from which to populate the level.
    For example, if the level is Continent and the source table contains a column called Continent Name, select Continent Name.
  16. Add levels as necessary and click Save.
    For example, if the source is a table of countries, the levels might be Continent, Region, and Country.
  17. Select the check box of a level.
    The Attribute to Column Mapping for [level name] table is displayed.
  18. Click an attribute in the Attribute column and select the source table column that holds the value of the attribute.
    For example, if the selected level is Region and the attribute is Population, select the column in the source table that holds the values for region populations.
  19. Repeat steps 16 and 17 for each level.
  20. Click Save.
