Creating dimension attributes

You can add attributes to an empty attribute table. While adding attributes, you can delete individual attributes. After you save an attribute table, you can no longer edit it. Deleting an attribute table deletes all its attributes.
  1. Select Dashboards > OLAP > Edit Database.
  2. Select the database to administer.
  3. Expand the Dimensions node of the database structure and select the dimension for which to create attributes.
  4. Click the Attributes tab.
  5. Select an empty attribute table.
  6. Click Add Attribute and specify this information:
    Name
Specify a name for the attribute.
    Description
The name is automatically used as the description. Optionally, specify a different description.
    Type
Select the type of attribute to create.
    Width
For numeric or string attributes, select the maximum width of the attribute. The default width for string and numeric attributes is 253 characters, which is the maximum. For date attributes, the width is 8. For logical attributes, the width is 1.
    Precision
For numeric attributes, specify the precision for the attribute. Precision can be set to the width, minus 2. Thus, if the width is 10, for example, the precision can be 0 to 8.
For string, date, or logical attributes, the precision is 0.
  7. Click Save.
