Basic navigation

The application interface consists of the main area, where you display or create your dashboards, and the toolbar.

In View mode, you can use the side menu to display saved dashboards and various types of content, and to access settings. The toolbar provides basic options such as adding to favorites, refreshing and sharing. It also contains the Actions menu.

In Edit mode, the toolbar provides the Add Content button, the Actions menu with additional options, and the Quick Help button to help you get started.

This table shows the icons that you use to perform various actions when you work with dashboards:

Icon	Description
Menu	Access the side menu that contains these tabs: Recently Opened, Favorites, Dashboards, Content connection, Widget Copies, Stories, Snapshots, PDF, and Settings.
Recently Opened	Recently Opened tab. Access recently opened content.
Favorites	Favorites tab. Access content flagged as favorites.
Dashboards	Dashboards tab. Access and open your dashboards.
Snapshots	Snapshots tab. Access and open snapshots.
Application Studio Service	Access the Application Studio Service content connection that contains the Application Studio Service widgets.
Administration Service	Access the Administration Service content connection that contains the Administration Service widgets.
Modeling Service	Access the Modeling Service content connection that contains the Modeling Service widgets.
PDFs	PDF tab. Access offline PDF reports.
Actions	Actions menu. The actions that are available depend on whether you are viewing or editing content.
New Dashboard	Create a dashboard.
Save	Save your changes.
Lock or unlock	Lock or unlock a dashboard.
Properties	Access dashboard properties.
Widget communication	Access the Widget Communication dialog box.
Use link	Reuse a parameter.
WebView	Add a WebView widget.
Edit	Edit a dashboard or story.
Add content	Add content to a dashboard or story.
Quick help	Access the quick help to get you started with editing your dashboards or stories.
Refresh	Reload the content.
Add to favorites	Add content to favorites.
Interact	Interact with the widget content.
Widget properties	Access the properties of a widget.
Copy a widget	Copy a widget.
Remove a widget	Remove a widget.
