Editing parameter connections

To edit parameter connections, you must have the Edit permissions. After you switch your dashboard to Edit mode, the Widget Communication option is available on the Actions menu on the toolbar or on the Edit tab on the Mac menu bar.

You can edit connections by dragging parameters in and from connections or by deleting individual connections. Or, you can remove all connections and, optionally, re-enable auto-detection. You can also remove individual parameters from a connection. These actions can be useful if, for example, you want to temporarily prevent a widget from updating. The widget retains its data while the rest of the dashboard is updated.

The name and the ID of parameter connections are generated automatically. You can edit these connection properties using the Widget Communication - Advanced Options dialog box.

  1. In Edit mode, click the Actions button on the application toolbar or click the Edit tab on the Mac menu bar.
  2. Select Widget Communication.
  3. Optionally, change the option to automatically connect new widgets.
By default, the newly added widgets are connected automatically.
  4. Turn individual connections on or off.
To switch on or off all connections, click the Switch ON/OFF All option.
  5. Click Advanced Options.
  6. To change properties, select Names or IDs and long click the connection property that you want to change. Edit the connection property.
  7. To remove an individual connection, remove all its parameters. Or, click the Remove icon to remove all connections.
  8. To reset and automatically connect the parameter connections, click the Refresh icon.
