Customizing protected Infor applications

With the exception of OLAP databases, content that is provided by Infor is protected. Protection prevents you from deleting or amending content, and from changing permissions on commercial roles. You can customize and extend applications.

Infor protected applications are identified by the value Protected, in the Type column of the Applications dashboard.

This table shows the protected commercial applications and their unique names:

Application name Application unique name
Infor Financials & Supply Management BIFSM
Infor EPM business applications DEPM

This is the Designer - based version of the business applications.

Self-Service BISelfServ
Infor Mobile Supply Chain Management MSCM
Infor Integrated Business Planning BIIBP
Infor Distribution Business Analytics BICSI

In on-premises and single tenant environments, ImportMaster can be used. ImportMaster is a third-party tool to extract, consolidate, and validate data from different operational source systems and then import it into an OLAP database.

For Designer-based applications, Designer is used as the modeling tool for Infor Budgeting & Planning and for custom applications. Designer is not available in multi-tenant cloud environments.

For Business Modeling-based applications Business Modeling is used as the modeling tool. Business Modeling is available in both on-premises and multi-tenant cloud environments.

With sufficient permissions, you can create new folders and add widgets from the widget catalog to create new dashboards. Or, you can use Self-Service to create your own charts. You can combine widgets from different applications in one dashboard if you create content connections to those applications.

You can store custom content within the folders of the application. In this case, the custom content inherits the permissions that are predefined on the folder. Or, to manage the permissions yourself, store custom content in your own folders.

If you use Application Studio to create reports, you can download Application Studio and Application Engine Process Editor clients, and the associated connection profile, from the Client Access dashboard in EPM Administration.

If you store your customized content in the folders of the application, it inherits the permissions of those folders. Alternatively, create your own folders and manage the permissions yourself.

In Application Studio, Design mode is disabled for protected content. But you can copy protected content and customize the copy.
