Data Area examples and sample reports

This topic describes examples of how the Data Area is used for filtering and sorting list elements.

These topics refer to these sample reports that are delivered with the Samples application:

  • RP001
  • RP002
  • RP003
  • RP004

The Samples application can be enabled in on-premises environments. The Samples application is not available in the Infor cloud

The Data Area of the List Designer is enabled whenever you create a Value filter or sort. That is, in these circumstances:

  • You select Filter By > Value in Filter Settings, at the bottom of the Filter pane, or
  • You select Type > Value in Sorting Criteria Settings, at the bottom of the Sorting pane.

You use the Data Area to specify the data to which a filter or sort applies. Often this will be the same as the data used in the report. For example, the report shows sales figures for a year and you create a filter to display only figures above 100000 in that year.

But you might want, for example, to display budgeted figures for a year only where the actual figures for the previous year were above a specified value.

Examples

Report RP001 demonstrates the use of the Data Area.

Report RP002 contains the example of using the Data Area to display budgeted figures in one year only where the actual figures for the previous year were above a specified value.

Report RP003 demonstrates sorting the elements of a hierarchy which is displayed in a single hyperblock, and the use of the Break Hierarchy option.

Report RP004 demonstrates sorting the elements of a hierarchy which is displayed in overlapping hyperblocks. It also demonstrates the use of the Break Hierarchy option.
