Calculations

Each OLAP dimension in the Database Structure has a Calculations folder. To view or create calculations, the Calculations folder must be enabled in the Settings dialog. Click Settings in the Database Structure pane and select Show Calculations.

With calculations, you create new list elements from existing elements. For example, you could create an All Years element by adding individual Year elements together. Calculations are defined with an MDX statement.

Calculations can be defined as measures. The definition of a calculation is saved in the Repository.

Calculations are displayed in the List Designer and can be selected in the same way as other elements.

Select the check box of the calculated element to insert it into the list.

Calculations can be used in creating further calculations (for example, Calculation1 minus Calculation2).
