Limitations for cloud environments

Users of the Application Engine and Application Engine Process Editor clients have to consider these limitations when connecting to a farm in a cloud environment:

  • When you start the Application Engine Process Editor, the client always connects to the farm. Offline functionality is not supported anymore.
  • Processes that are run or debugged in the Application Engine Process Editor locally on a client computer, cannot connect to data sources that are running in the farm. The same restrictions must be considered when you start the Application Engine Process Editor from the Application Studio client.
  • The Process Executor tool cannot be used, because you cannot sign in from the command line to the farm.
  • The Process Importer tool cannot be used, because you cannot sign in from the command line to the farm.

Runtime functions that are not supported in a cloud environment

For security reasons, runtime functions to access files, functions that manipulate the local file system, database functions that work with relational connection strings or database server names, and Rstatistical functions cannot be used in a cloud environment.
