Configuring and testing SMTP email

You can configure an SMTP email server to enable Application Studio Service and Application Engine Service to send email notifications when, for example, a background process finishes.

  1. Select Dashboards > Farm Administration > Global Settings.
  2. Select Enable SMTP emailing in EPM services.
  3. For the outgoing mail server, specify this information:
    From
    Specify the email address from which to send mails.
    Reply to
    Specify the email address to receive replies to sent mails.
    SMTP Server Name
    Specify the name of the SMTP server.
    This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
    If the SMTP server requires SSL, select this check box.
    Port Number
    Specify the required port number.
  4. For SMTP authentication, select Anonymous or Basic authentication.
  5. If Basic authentication is required, specify username and password.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Specify an email address to which to send a test mail and click Send Test Email.
    If the test email is received at the specified address, the SMTP server is validly configured.
