Logging for Application Studio and Application Engine thick clients

Logging of errors is enabled by default. You can disable logging or change the level at which events are logged. You can specify where logs are stored, and how many client sessions to log.

Events can be logged at these levels:

  • Critical
  • Error
  • Warning
  • Information
  • Debug

If errors occur but the server side shows no cause, for example in the case of Remote connection has been closed errors, use the thick client logs for troubleshooting.

By default, logs are stored in ..\Users\[user_name]\AppData\Roaming\Infor\Logs.

  1. Select one of these options:
    Option Description
In Application Studio, select Extras > Settings and then select Logs Opens the Settings dialog box and selects logging options.
In Application Engine Process Editor, select Tools > Settings Opens the Settings dialog box.
  2. Optionally, browse to the folder in which to save logs and click OK.
  3. Optionally, select the level at which to log events.
  4. Optionally, specify the maximum number of log files to store.
A log is created for each session: that is, each time you start the application. Logs are text files named ApplicationStudio_, or Infor BIAppEngineProcessEditor_, as appropriate, with a numeric suffix.
