Defining progression rules

Progression rules determine the automatic progression of employees between salary steps within grades, and between salary grades.

  1. Click the Home icon.
  2. Select Module Settings and Budgeting > Configuration > Step and Grade Salary Table.
  3. From the standard dimensions select the context of the progression rule to define.
  4. Select the salary table that has the progression rule to edit and click the Edit icon in the toolbar.
If the required salary table is not listed, click Find Salary Tables to list all salary tables within the context.
  5. Click the Progression Rule tab.
  6. Click Add New Rule, or select an existing rule to edit.
  7. Specify a name for the rule and, optionally, a description.
  8. Select a date type.
The selected date is the base date from which the progression is calculated. In subsequent steps you specify the number of periods, after the base date, at which the progression starts.
  9. Optionally, select the Apply on reference date option.
If the apply on reference date option is selected, the first action is created on the selected date type that occurs after the effective date.
Note:  If the selected date type is not available, the target date defaults to the position effective date or to the assignment effective date for positions or position assignments, respectively.
  10. Click Add New and specify this information:
