Workflow configuration

In workflow configuration, you define processes for the completion and approval of planning steps and other tasks. Configuration includes specifying due dates and the planners and approvers who are responsible for the task. Some steps, such as financial planning steps involving organizations, may require hierarchical review. In a hierarchical review, different due dates and responsible users can be assigned to different organizations.

These types of workflow are supported: Application, Planning, and Object Based. A planning step or task can involve more than one type of workflow.

The Workflow Configuration page has context section. The context section lists the configuration sets and the versions associated with them.

Click a version to display this information in the Workflow Tasks Overview section:
Entity
For each version, the Entity column displays the entities for which there are planning steps.
Application
For each entity for which there is a planning step, the Application column displays the applications for which there are planning steps.
Planning Workflow
This workflow includes financial planning steps. Financial planning steps are linked to workbooks in which planners submit planning data. The data can be rejected or approved.
Planning workflow cannot be used for decision packages.
Object Based Workflow
An object based workflow involves multiple steps, and conditions. An example is the purchase of equipment that has an initial purchase cost and ongoing maintenance costs. Different combinations of those costs might require approval by different approvers.
Object based workflow is selected for decision packages and decision package top downs.
