Differences between Infor d/EPM in cloud and on-premises environments

There are some differences between Infor d/EPM in cloud and on-premises environments.

Application Engine functions

Not all Application Engine functions are available in the Infor cloud.

See "Functions not supported in the Infor Cloud".

Application Studio custom reports

There are these restrictions on the content of custom reports in the cloud:

  • Web extensions: Only trusted, Infor-delivered, web extensions are permitted in custom reports
  • HTML(): HTML functions are not supported in custom reports
  • Relational reports: To help ensure the security of the environment, any SQL statements that you create, and which target an Infor cloud source, are parsed against a list of allowed functions. The list of allowed functions is applied only where Infor cloud sources might be affected. When you create lists that use Infor cloud data sources, variables cannot be used in SQL queries: parameters must be used instead. DBEXECUTE is not supported. Use DBEXECUTEFIXED instead.
On-premises, the list of allowed SQL functions is not applied, and the use of parameters in queries is optional.
Note: The listed restrictions do not apply to protected reports that are delivered through Infor standard applications. If you copy protected reports, the restricted features do not work in the copy.

Auditing

Auditing only available in on-premises and Infor Government Solutions (IGS) cloud environments. Auditing is not available in standard cloud environments.

Authentication

In the cloud, Basic and LDAP is not supported.

In on-premises environments, IFS, Basic, and LDAP are supported.

Backups

In the cloud, the maximum number of automatic backups that can be saved is 30. The same limit applies to manual backups.

On-premises, the maximum number of automatic backups that can be saved is 30. The same limit applies to manual backups.

Changelog for custom applications

In the cloud, Changelog is not configurable. On-premises, it is fully configurable.

Data integration

Custom data integration is available in both environments, but standard data integration is available only in the cloud.

Farm administration

No farm administration options are available in cloud environments. These Farm administration dashboards are available on premises:

  • Services: Includes monitoring the status of service workers and managers
  • Global Settings: Enablement of relational database providers
  • Repository: Management of authentication settings and pending operations
  • Security Settings: Maintenance of secure sites to prevent clickjacking attacks

Managing applications

In the cloud, only Business Modeling can be used to model business applications. On premises, both versions of the business applications - Business Modeling and Designer - can be used.

ImportMaster can only be used on on-premises environments.

In the cloud, the option to create applications depends on the features and applications that are provisioned for a tenant. In the cloud, standard applications are installed only by Infor

Samples application

The Samples application can only be used in on-premises environments. It is not available in the Infor cloud.

Self-Service

In on-premises environments, Self-Service can be installed from the Farm Expert. In the cloud, it can be provisioned if requested.

The cloud version of Self-Service is a restricted application and you cannot add dashboards. Instead, you can add a content connection to Self-Service in an extensible application. This enables you to create dashboards that are based on Self-Service widgets.

Troubleshooting resources

The system logs are available to users on premises but only to Infor in the cloud.

User logs are available in the cloud and on premises. The User Logs Management dashboard enables you to troubleshoot content.

More OLAP troubleshooting resources are available to users in on-premises environments than in the cloud. For example, the ability to identify long-lasting operations and to repair a corrupted database are available on premises. In the cloud, other resources are restricted to Infor.

In cloud environments, there are two troubleshooting resources available to users. The Database Troubleshooting dashboard has options to create and download request log files and to disconnect individual users.

In the Databases dashboard, you can view the system logs of single databases.

Connections to Analysis Services

Data connections to Microsoft Analysis Services with Active Directory Federated Security are not supported in cloud, it is supported only in on-premises environment.
