Stopping and starting databases

You stop and start OLAP databases in the Databases widget, in these dashboards:

  • Cluster Nodes
  • Databases
  • Database Performance
  • Database Settings
  • Database Troubleshooting
  • Save and Backup

If users are connected to a database when you stop it, they may lose work. To see which users are currently selected, use the Database Troubleshooting dashboard.

  1. Navigate to a dashboard that contains the Databases widget.
For example, select Dashboards > OLAP > Database Troubleshooting.
  2. In the Databases widget, select the database to stop or start.
Stopped databases are marked as Offline and started databases as Online.

Other widgets show related information, depending on the dashboard. For example, in the Database Troubleshooting dashboard, the Connected Users widget lists the currently connected users.

  3. Click the Start or Stop icon as appropriate.
If you are stopping a database, click OK to acknowledge the warning that connected users may lose work and stop the database. The database is marked as Queued Stop and then stops automatically.

When you start a database, it is marked as Queued Start and then starts automatically.
