Segments in Financial Consolidation

You do the Financial Consolidation basic configuration in Business Modeling. Select Business Modeling > Modules > Consolidation > Core and click Configure Module.

You can link these custom business objects with segments:

  • Segments 1-3
  • Analysis 1-5 and 7-11
  • Organizations

For example, you can use Organizations as the primary segment, Segment 3 as the secondary segment, and Analysis 11 as the tertiary segment.

Note: We recommend that you do not use the Analysis dimensions because they do not handle elimination processes. To present consolidated results on segments, use Segments 1-3.

Segmentation is hierarchical and only one of these options is possible:

  • Segment1 is activated
  • Segment1 and Segment2 are activated
  • Segment1, Segment2, and Segment3 are activated.

If no segment is activated, you cannot use segmentation.

Note: In Financial Consolidation, you can segment data for the profit and loss accounts, balance sheet accounts, and statistical accounts of types S, M, N, and O. To segment data for statistical accounts, you must specify the GroupAccountID property for all the accounts to segment.

If schedules and schedule details are not required for consolidation, you can disable their use. Select Business Modeling > Modules > Consolidation > Core, click Configure Module, and disable the Schedule usage switch.

Note: If you do not use schedules, you cannot run the carry forward process, opening balances are not available, and periodic changes are not possible.
