Data integration for standard and custom applications

Infor d/EPM provides functionality to customize pre-packaged applications and develop custom-built applications.

Based on your requirements, you must consider whether to use the Infor d/EPM standard business application or customization to complete your project.

These scenarios are typical for projects:

  • Source systems are integrated to the Infor d/EPM business applications:
    • Integration templates are focused on the standard Infor d/EPM application.
    • Infor consultants can enhance integration templates based on a project's special requirements.

This is the recommended data acquisition flow:

    1. Infor Data Lake
    2. Staging database
    3. Integration database
    4. Business Modeling

These pre-packaged standard integrations are available:

    • Infor LN

See Infor LN Cloud Integration Guide for Infor d/EPM on Infor Support Portal.

    • Infor M3

See Infor M3 CE Core Integration Guide for Infor d/EPM on Infor Support Portal.

    • Infor Financials & Supply Management.

See the Financials & Supply Management section of this documentation.

Other standard integrations are under development.

  • The Infor d/EPM business applications are extended through Business Modeling with these options:
    • Custom properties added to business objects in standard applications.
    • Sub plans tailored to customer-specific needs. This requires a combination of the Infor d/EPM business applications and custom solutions data flows.

This is the data acquisition flow for sub plans:

      1. Infor Data Lake
      2. Staging database
      3. OLAP modeling

These steps are typical to create sub plans that use data from the Infor d/EPM business applications:

    1. Create a custom application.

See the "Creating applications" topic in the d/EPM Administration section of this documentation.

    2. Export the load query from the standard Infor d/EPM business application.

See the "Standard integration import" topic in the Data Flow section of this documentation.

    3. Import the bundle into your custom application.

See the "Export and import" topic in the Relational Modeling section of this documentation.

Note: Edit load queries in your custom application only. After you update standard load queries, merge them with customized queries.
  • Source systems are integrated to custom applications:
    • Custom applications are built on Infor d/EPM.
    • Customer and consulting team are responsible for created reports, data model, and dashboards.
    • Consulting team remains responsible for data load queries.

This is the recommended data acquisition flow for custom applications:

    1. Infor Data Lake
    2. Staging database
    3. OLAP modeling

Data loads can be scheduled through ION Workflow or you can write Application Engine processes for on-demand loads.

  • Data is published from Infor d/EPM to source systems (two-way integration).

The recommendation for data publishing from Infor d/EPM to source systems is the same for the Infor d/EPM business applications and custom applications. BOD publishing is available for the standard integration with the Infor d/EPM business applications. For other custom purposes, we recommend that you publish data to Data Lake.

This is the recommended data publishing flow:

    1. Application Engine process
    2. ION Messaging Service
    3. Infor ION Connect
    4. Data Lake

See the "Alternative publishing option" topic in the Data Flow section of this documentation.
