In-Context BI

In-Context BI is one of several contextual components that run alongside the main applications in Infor Ming.le.

In-Context BI is deployed with other Infor enterprise products such as Infor SyteLine, Infor SunSystems, Infor EAM, and Infor LN. It is then visible next to these main applications in Infor Ming.le. In-Context BI enables users to see relevant KPIs, metrics, and analytics related to the main application screen that they are currently working on.

The cloud edition of In-Context BI runs in a contextual application inside the Infor Ming.le portal.

Infor Ming.le provides a context engine that runs in the browser. This engine facilitates communication between multiple Infor applications, between Infor applications and contextual applications, and between multiple contextual applications.

In-Context BI relies on the main application to send context messages in JSON format. This contextual information is then processed to show the right analytics in the right situations.

Contextual components enhance the information that is displayed by the main applications. For example, if you view a particular purchase order in your ERP, In-Context BI might display the payment history of the customer.

Context applications display information in the form of widgets. A widget is a small, single-purpose application that provides quick, at-a-glance information or quick access to simple interactive functions. Each Infor application is shipped with a set of standard In-Context BI widgets. You can create your own widgets.

The In-Context BI component displays content that is created in Application Studio.

Example

A user signs in to Infor Ming.le and opens, for example, Infor SyteLine.

In Infor Syteline, the user opens the Purchase Order Quick Entry page.

Infor Syteline sends a JSON message of type Infor Business Context to the shell application - Infor Ming.le. The context message provides details about the application, about the screen that is currently being viewed, and about the data that is currently shown - in this case, a specific purchase order.

The In-Context BI component receives the business context message and sends a request to the connected instance of Application Studio. The request instructs Application Studio to display the correct KPI and initialize it to show the data for the correct customer, product, or purchase order that is provided with the business context.
