Tilde (~) number format

The Text category, on the Number Format tab offers the tilde (~) and at (@) symbols as number formats.

If a cell has the ~ format, and a format for that cell is specified elsewhere, then that format is used.

For example, a database might specify that values for Discount and Discount % measures are formatted differently. But, if the dimension containing those measures is referenced by a formula in a hyperblock, then values for both measures are displayed in the same format. To ensure that the format specified in the database for the selected measure is used, specify ~ as the format of the hyperblock's value cells.

The ~ number format can be used in chart data labels. On the Number tab of the Format Data Labels dialog box, apply the ~ format. The labels then have the same formatting as the chart data.

The @ format has the same function as in Microsoft Excel.
