Defining data areas

  1. In the List Designer, perform one or more of these actions:
    Option Description
    Create a global data area In the Data Area pane, define the data area.
    Create a filter data area In the Filter pane, click New Filter and specify a value filter. The Filter Data Area is enabled and has the same definition as the global data area. You can edit the definition.
    Create a sorting data area In the Sorting pane, click New Sorting Criterion and specify a value sort. The Sorting Data Area is enabled. has the same definition as the global data area. You can edit the definition.
  2. Define the data area manually, or fill it with default values and edit them as necessary.
    1. To define the data area manually, click <<Select Hierarchy> in the Hierarchy column and select a hierarchy, element, set or tuple.
    2. Click Current element in the Selection column and click the browse button.
      The Select Elements dialog is displayed.

      Specify the element to use, or select a variable which contains the required element.

    1. To fill the Data Area with default values, click Fill.
      The Hierarchy and Selection columns fill with the hierarchies and values currently used in the report.
    2. To use an element, set, or tuple in place of the currently selected hierarchy, click the selected hierarchy and select from the list.
    3. To use an element or variable in place of the currently selected element, click the browse button of the current element and select from the Select Elements dialog.
