Exporting application components overview
The option is intended for use by report developers who require to distribute new or updated reporting applications, including report books, style sheets, and all other dependencies. The export files (.app_reports) can be used in the Export Application wizard ind/EPM Administration to package full applications, or for import in Application Studio.
Typically, you export an application component if your requirement is to update or package a complete application. The export can include calculations and style sheets that are not used in any of the reports that are included in the export.
For users who want to share single Application Studio folders, reports, or report books with other users, there are other export options, on the context menus of reports and folders. The Export Reports option, for example, which exports to a .reports file is typically used for moving selections of reports and dashboards.
