Application settings

You can specify default settings for each installed application. You can apply those defaults to specific user groups and roles or specify different settings for each group or role.

Select Dashboards > Applications Administration > Application Settings.

The settings in the Default Settings widget are grouped into Dashboards, Mobile Application, and Application Studio settings. For Dashboards and Mobile Application, most of the same settings are available in the User and Role Specific Settings widget, with an additional option to apply the default. User and role specific settings are not applicable to Application Studio.

This table shows the settings that are available in the Dashboards group:

Setting Description Notes
Startup Mode Specifies whether a dashboard is displayed at startup.
Startup Dashboard The unique name of the dashboard to open at startup. The unique name of a dashboard is shown in Dashboard Properties. Click the gear icon in the Dashboards browser and select Properties.
User Interface Language The language in which elements of the user interface, such as menu items, are displayed.
Content Language The language in which content, such as dashboard and widget names, is displayed.
Dashboard Height and Dashboard Width Automatically size dashboards or specify an exact size in pixels. Not available as a user or role specific setting.
Widget Margin Size The width of widget margins. Not available as a user or role specific setting.
Margin for New Widgets Specifies whether new widgets have a margin.
Widget Title for new Widgets Specifies whether new widgets have a title.

This table shows the settings that are available in the Mobile Applications group:

Allow Mobile Access Specifies whether the application can be accessed on mobile devices.
Allow Saving Offline Views Specifies whether offline views can be saved on a mobile device.
Invalidate Offline Data Specifies whether offline data remains valid or becomes invalid after a specified number of days.

This table shows the settings that are available in the Application Studio group.

Setting Description Notes
MDX Cache Size Specifies the size of the MDX cache, in MB.
Separator for List of Elements in Data Area of Lists Specifies the separator between multiple elements in the data area of a list. If a list definition is driven by a variable, that variable must contain a separated list of element unique names. The same separator must be used in the variable as in the data area.
Presentation of Empty Cells Specifies how cells without values are represented.
Presentation of Empty String Cells Specifies how string cells without values are represented.
Splashing Enables or disables splashing to consolidated cells.
Immediate Writeback Enables or disables immediate writeback of values to the database. Can be overridden for a specific report by using the Immediate Writeback report property, or the Immediate Writeback optional input of a Set parameters action.
Writeback Behavior Specifies whether writeback is in spreadsheet or form mode. Determines how you navigate between and within writable cells. In form mode, for example, the arrow keys on the keyboard move the cursor character-by- character through the value in the cell. In spreadsheet mode, the arrow keys move between writable cells.
Change Selection after Writeback Specifies the direction of movement of the cursor after Enter is pressed.
Note: Application developers can specify that any setting, and its default or role values, can be protected from editing.
