Workflow process
You can use the workflow process to design and implement an approval process.
The workflow process is defined, configured, and completed through these phases:
- Configuration set definition
The configuration set definition of the workflow process is completed through
. You can create a new configuration set or use an existing one.Only configuration sets and versions that were activated for Workforce Planning are available for workflow configuration. To activate the configuration set and the selected version, select .
- Workbook creation
Users with Administrator role create workbooks through
. After a workbook is published to workflow, you can select the workbook and use it in the workflow configuration.Note: The Decision Package Dynamic workbooks include the approver logic directly in their workbooks and do not require any further workflow configuration. - Workflow configuration
Users with Workflow Administrator role configure the workflow steps through
. In Workflow configuration, you can also access and edit the workflow steps, monitor their status, and review the progress of the workflow process.Note: Before you can configure the workflow, ensure that the configuration sets and versions to be used are activated for Workforce Planning. Additionally, the version to be used in workflow configuration must be associated with at least one workbook that has been published to workflow. For example, you want to configure a workflow for the Standard Budget version. If this version is not available on the Workflow Configuration page, ensure that a workbook using the Standard Budget version is created and published to workflow. - Tasks page
After the workflow process is configured, users complete steps of the workflow process that are assigned to them. The corresponding workflow tasks are listed on the Tasks page. Depending on the type of workflow step and your role in the workflow process, you can complete tasks that are assigned to you. That is, you can create allocation requests, input and submit data, and approve or reject the workflow step that is assigned to you. If, for example, the approver rejects a workflow step, the task is returned to the submitter for further review. If the approver approves the workflow step, and there are no additional approvals required, the workflow is completed.
The status pane shows the number of tasks that are to be completed, are in progress, or have been completed.
After completing a step of a workflow process, the subsequent step is assigned to the next user. For example, the next user might be the approver of the request that you submitted.
