Workforce Planning workflow
This section walks you through the steps of the Infor Workforce Planning workflow.
Implementation
Before you start working with Workforce Planning, these steps are typically performed by the implementation team:
- The dimensions are defined and the alternate hierarchies are created.
- The employee data is imported.

Ensure that the business configuration is performed. That is, configuration sets and versions for Workforce Planning are created.
Workforce Planning application
The Workforce Planning procedures and their typical order are listed here:
- Perform Workforce Planning configuration.
- Define calculation methods, their planning frequency, and
dimensionality.
You can use Workforce Planning to create several calculation methods if different employee groups require different labor planning, such as direct and indirect labor.
- Optionally, add units of measure.
Workforce Planning provides standard units of measures and unit families. If your data uses units that are not included in the application, you can add them.
- Create driver categories and drivers.
- Create calculated drivers to convert forecast demand into time effort for direct labor.
- Upload driver values.
Workforce Planning supports driver value upload using the integration processes and the application.
You can upload driver values on a regular basis, for example, monthly. If you upload values in each month several times, the values are overwritten. Only the last uploaded driver values are stored and used for the calculation.
However, Workforce Planning allows forecast labor planning for which the drivers are used. If the value of these drivers changes, you can upload new driver values for the new month to have up-to-date calculations. The values uploaded in previous months are retained. Overwritten are only driver values that were uploaded the same month.
- Optionally, allocate your employee data using allocation workbooks.
- Upload employee data.
- Calculate imported data to reflect any changes that were done using integration processes.
- Configure the Assignment report for FTE calculations.
- Optionally, copy your data to a different configuration set or version.
- Optionally, use the reports to view your results.
- Optionally, use Workforce Planning FTE decision packages for approving hiring numbers.
