Database aliases

Data connections replace database aliases.

When you import *.app_reports and *.reports files, the database aliases that they reference are converted to data connections. To check the configuration of the data connection after import, select Dashboards > Applications Administration > Data Connections in d/EPM Administration.

Configuration of user and role-specific log-on settings is no longer required. We make these recommendations:

• Use single sign on (existing connection) when you connect OLAP.
• Use Windows authentication when you connect to Microsoft Analysis Services.
• Configure high privilege connections so that they are not shared with other applications such as Self-Service.

Data connections automatically connect as required. Therefore, the Connect at log on option is no longer supported.
