Configuring farm database connections

Note: Use a basic SQL Authentication user to configure the connections when creating the farm databases. You cannot use Windows authentication. To change the Windows authentication to SQL Server Authentication use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. Windows Authentication is not sufficient for creating farm databases.

In Microsoft SQL Server, map the user login to these roles of the databases:

  • db_datareader
  • db_datawriter
  • db_ddladmin
  • db_securityadmin

The same roles apply to these farm databases:

  • Config
  • Logs
  • Staging
  • Modeling DB
  • Designer DB
  • Changelog
  • Consolidation journal
