Creating connections to Microsoft Analysis Services

To connect to Microsoft Analysis Services, you must use the Define data connection option within a data connection of the type Other XMLA Providers.

HTTP access to Analysis Services, through IIS, must already be configured.

You can connect as a specific user or you can use impersonation to mimic Windows authentication.
Note: Windows authentication is not supported.
  1. Select Dashboards > Applications Administration > Data Connections.
  2. Select the application to which to add the connection.
  3. Click + Add and select Other XMLA Providers.
  4. On the General tab, specify a name and unique name for the connection. Optionally, specify a description.
  5. On the Connection tab, select Define data connection.
  6. Specify this information:
    Provider
    Select Analysis Services.
    URL
    Specify the URL of the Analysis Services data source.
  7. Select one of these options:
    Option Description
    Explicit user Authenticate to Analysis Services with the user name and password of a specific user.
    Impersonate user Authenticate to Analysis Services at the service level and impersonate the current Infor d/EPM user. Service level authentication can be done with Windows or Basic authentication. If you select Windows, the Windows service account under which the Application Studio Service runs is used. Select Basic if you want to use an explicit service level account. Impersonation automatically maps the current Infor d/EPM user to a corresponding Windows user, who is known to Analysis Services.
  8. Select the database to connect to and, optionally, test the connection. .
  9. Click Save.
