Importing application roles

Application roles that have been exported to an app_roles file can be imported. Roles are recreated as required in the models in the target. Permission assignments are created only on the models that exist in the target application.
  1. Select Dashboards > User and Permission Management > Application Roles.
  2. In the Application Roles widget, select the application into which to import.
  3. Click Import and browse to the app_roles file.
  4. Specify what to do if an imported role already exists. You can overwrite or keep the existing role.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Optionally, click the Synchronize roles to OLAP icon.
    To avoid unnecessary rebuilds of the security access cubes in the OLAP database, new and changed roles are not automatically synchronized with the database. The Synchronize roles to OLAP icon is colored yellow if there are unsynchronized changes.
