Importing an OLAP database

This procedure requires you to stop the OLAP database. This could cause connected users to lose work. We recommend that you liaise with users before stopping the database. Currently connected users are shown in the Database Troubleshooting dashboard. Select Dashboards > OLAP > Database Troubleshooting.

Note: By default, the maximum size of file that can be uploaded to the Infor cloud is 512 MB. On-premises, the default upload limit is 128 MB but can be increased to a maximum of 4 GB.
Note: We recommend that you back up existing databases before you import a database.
  1. Select a dashboard that contains the Databases widget. For example, select Dashboards > OLAP > Databases.
  2. In the Databases widget select the database into which to import and click the Stop icon.
  3. Select the offline database and select Import > Import Database.
  4. If you are warned that the selected database is owned by Business Modeling or Designer, perform these actions:
    1. Confirm that you have checked that the database to be imported conforms to the business model to which it is to be imported.
    2. Confirm that the import does not include individual dimensions and cubes from older versions of the Infor d/EPM business applications application to which the database belongs.
  5. Select the file to import.
Note: Databases are exported to .olap files. However, it is possible to import from a .zip file. Typically, you import from .zip when migrating from Infor BI 11.0.x. The .zip can contain the content of an 11.0 OLAP database folder. You can also import from an app_olap application component.
  6. Select one of these options:
    Option Description
Add new cubes and dimensions (without subsets), and replace all existing ones in case of conflict Select if the .olap export contains new cubes or dimensions to be added to the existing database. Existing cubes and dimensions are replaced only in cases of conflict.

Subsets are not imported when this option is selected.

Note: This option is disabled if the import is a .zip file.
Replace database Select to replace the entire database with that in the .olap file.

Subsets are imported when this option is selected.

Note: The .olap export does not necessarily include all cubes and dimensions of the existing database.
  7. Click Import.
A summary of the results shows, for example, the number of objects added or overwritten. Click Close.
  8. In the Databases widget, select the stopped database and click the Start icon.
