Registering the Designer database to trigger the update

The update of the Budgeting & Planning model requires a connection to the OLAP database which is named DEPM. This workaround is required to be able to change the OLAP configuration of the model:

  1. Start Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. Edit the tlbSystemProperties table.
  3. Go to the PlanningVersion field. Write down the value as you will need this information later.
  4. Change the value of the PlanningVersion field to 9999. This change prevents Designer from starting the Budgeting & Planning update before you configure the connection to the farm repository and the DEPM OLAP database.
  5. Delete these fields:
    • COSAPM
    • COSConnectString
    • COSConnectType
    • COSProject
  6. Start Designer.
  7. Register the Designer database.
See "Registering a Designer database" in the "Designer" section for further information.
  8. Click Yes when prompted to update the repository. This step updates the repository to version 12.0.x. It does not update the Budgeting & Planning model.
  9. Start the Repository Setting Wizard.
  10. Connect to the database.
  11. From the Choose a project list, select DEPM.
  12. Complete the Wizard.
  13. Connect to the farm.
  14. Select File > Settings.
  15. Click the Models tab.
  16. From the OLAP Server list, select DEPM.
  17. Click the Logging tab.
  18. From the Logging level of the event list, select Debug.
  19. Exit Designer.
  20. Start Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
  21. Edit the tlbSystemProperties table.
  22. Go to the PlanningVersion field and update the value to the value noted in Step 3.
  23. Start Designer.
  24. Connect to the database. The Budgeting & Planning model will be updated.
  25. Select File > Create Database to publish the Designer model.
