Adding a WebView to a dashboard

These limitations should be considered:

  • Dashboards offers limited navigation in WebViews.
  • Pages that cannot be framed are not supported.
  • Java applet content is not supported.
  • If Internet Explorer is used, Flash content is not supported.
  • If Chrome is used, pages which use HTTP basic authentication are not supported. This is a feature of Chrome. See http://blog.chromium.org/2011/06/new-chromium-security-features-june.html.

You can work around this issue by adding --allow-cross-origin-auth-prompt to Chrome's command line arguments.

To add a Webview to a dashboard:

  1. Click Toolbox on the toolbar.
  2. Drag the WebView widget onto a dashboard. Alternatively, click the WebView widget to open it full-screen in a new dashboard.
  3. When you drag WebView widget to a dashboard, the Web View dialog box is displayed automatically.
If you open the WebView full-screen, you must navigate to the Web View dialog box. Click Edit in the toolbar and position the cursor over the web view, then click Properties.
  4. Optionally, specify a title for the web view.
  5. On the General tab, specify these properties:
    URL
Specify the URL of the content to add.
    URL Parameters
If required, click URL Parameters and specify parameters.
    Allow Scrolling
Select this option to automatically enable scroll bars if necessary.
    Privileged Content
Some web content might be blocked by default. Select this check box to enable blocked content. A tooltip warns you that this may result in unexpected behavior.
  6. On the Display tab, specify these properties:
    Header
Select this option to display the title of the widget in the widget.
    Collapsing Direction
To save space on a dashboard you can enable a Collapse icon in a widget and specify a collapsing direction. When you click the icon, the widget collapses in the specified direction. Select one of these options:
    • No collapsing
    • Top
    • Right
    • Bottom
    • Left
  7. On the Layout tab, specify these properties:
    Fill Horizontally
Select this option to specify that the widget automatically fills all available horizontal space on the dashboard.
    Fill Vertically
Select this option to specify that the widget automatically fills all available vertical space on the dashboard.
    Widget Margins
Specify whether widget margins are displayed and, if so, where. Select one of these options:
    • All Sides
    • Top
    • Right
    • Bottom
    • Left
  8. Click Close.
