Creating a load definition

To create a load definition:

  1. Open the Import page.
  2. In the Load Groups section, click Open for the load group to which you want to add the load definition.
  3. In the Load Definition section, click Add new.
  4. Select a load type. Choose from:
    Option Description
    Allocation The allocations are used to distribute position or employee expenses across up to three dimensions. The allocation dimensions are specified in Model Builder and need to be established as the first step. Allocations are referenced in Global Settings.
    Global Settings The Global Settings define various parameters for the system. Budget start date and a default allocation definition, if allocations are used, are required .
    Attribute Definition Attribute definition specifies the position and employee attributes.
    User Defined Attribute Value You can load attribute values for the position or employee string attributes. For example, employee locations or marital status.
    Spread Definition Spread definitions are the weights used to spread employee costs across the budgeting periods. An even spread is provided as a default. If spread methods are loaded using Clear and Load, the first spread method becomes the default.
    Step and Grade Step and Grade Schedule information. Step and grade schedule information is only required if the field is enabled.
    Action Definition Actions are the personnel actions used in preparing position budgets. For example, raises, bonuses, step ups, benefits, transfer, or terminations.
    Employee Definition Employee information. Employee information is not required if budgeting is done at the position level only.
    Position Definition The workforce positions to use for budgeting.
    Position Assignment Position assignment associates a position with the workforce primary dimension. Employees are assigned through this assignment as well.
    Action Assignment Action assignments activates an action definition with specific values for a position.
    Distributions Distributions are assigned to positions to change the position budget. You can import distributions and then calculate them.
  5. Specify a name for the load definition.
  6. Click Create.
  7. Complete each step of the wizard. Navigate through the wizard by clicking Next or click directly on the tab you want to change.
  8. Click Finish.
  9. Click Import.
