Adding a Planning connection - Microsoft SQL Server

To add a Microsoft SQL Server connection for Planning:

  1. Open the Manage Data Sources page.
  2. Click New and select Planning.
  3. Specify a name for the data source. The name must be unique.
  4. Select the network protocol.
  5. Specify the name of the server computer on which the OLAP Server software is installed.
  6. Specify the Communication Manager port number for the server computer. The default is 8211 for https and 8210 for http.
  7. Specify the administrator user name.
  8. Specify the password for the administrator user.
  9. Select the BI OLAP database for the data source. If necessary, click Refresh to update the list of available databases.
  10. Select Microsoft SQL Server as the database server type.
  11. Specify the user name of the database owner.
  12. Specify the password for the database owner.
  13. Specify the name of the server computer on which the SQL Server software is installed. If a SQL instance is used, it must be appended to the name. For example, MyServerName\SQL2008.
  14. Select the Planning relational database to connect to the data source. If necessary, click Refresh to update the list of available databases.
  15. Click Test Connection. If this is not successful, review and correct the connection information.
  16. Click Save.
