Load Definition

The Load Definition tab is the first step in the import process. The load definition specifies basic information regarding the source data and type of load. The load definitions are listed in the order they will be loaded.

Load definitions within a load group can be loaded individually or as a group. If multiple load definitions are selected for loading, they are automatically loaded in the correct order. For example, spread or allocation definitions need to be loaded before position definitions as they are included as part of the position definition.

This table describes the tab fields:

Field Description
Component Displays the previously select load type. For example, Allocations or Global Settings.
Load Name Specify a unique name for the load definition. You can specify up to 255 alphanumeric characters. This field is required.
Description Specify a description for the load definition. By default, the name is used as a description. The description is shown on the Load Definition section of the Import page.
Source Select the source, either a file or a database table.
Processing Options Select the processing fields. Select Clear and load or Insert With Update. The Clear and load field deletes all existing target data in the database table as well as any dependent Workforce Budgeting data before loading the file. Dependent data can include definitions, assignments and calculated budgets that reference the data being deleted. The deleted information cannot be retrieved. Clear and load is recommended for initial loading or reloading of the Workforce Budgeting module. The Insert with Update field updates the existing records in the database table and adds new records. This is the default for a new load definition.
